in 2006-2010. The first use of the name Commander on a passenger vehicle was the popular Studebaker Commander, who from the 1920s was produced by 1966. The Jeep Commander was introduced during the 2005 New York Auto Show. While in production, was sold as a 7-passenger counterpart of the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Optional on the limited equipped with 5.7-liter V8, which produces 330 HP and 375 lb-ft of torque. All three engines come standard with a 5-speed automatic transmission. 2006 Jeep Commander has four-wheel antilock disc brakes, standard safety features include side curtain airbags and stability control. The 2006 Jeep Commander crash tests will not run.
